How this site handles your information

When you sign up to read the sample

The form on the sample page asks for your first name and email address. Both are stored with Brevo, the service that sends these emails, and used to send you the Introduction and Chapter One as a PDF, four short letters about the book over the following ten days, and occasional news after that. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to ask to be removed. Your address is never sold or rented.

Your browser also keeps a small note that you have signed up, so the chapters open without the form when you come back. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.

Advertising and measurement

The site uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, to count visits that arrive from ads on Facebook and Instagram, to record when someone asks for the sample, and to show those ads to people who have visited before. For that purpose Meta receives information from your browser, including the pages you open, your device and browser type, and an identifier kept in a cookie. Meta’s use of that information is governed by its own privacy policy.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the pixel does not load. You can also turn it off in this browser:

The choice is saved in this browser only and takes effect from the next page you open. You can also limit the ads you see under Ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

Orders

Books are sold by Candlewood Trading Company through a checkout run on Shopify. What you enter at checkout, such as your name, shipping address, and payment details, is handled under Candlewood’s privacy policy.

Services that load with the site

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Fonts come from Google Fonts, and the order buttons on the home page come from Shopify. Each of these services receives your browser’s request when a page loads.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
